Mausoleum (1983)

Mausoleum (dir. Michael Dugan, 1983)

There is a curse in the Nomed family. All the first born daughters become possessed by a demon that happens to dwell in the enormous family crypt that they remain surprisingly adamant about using in spite of the whole devil thing. Our story follows Susan Nomed, who at the age of ten became the inheritor of the curse after the death of her mother. At 30, she is married, seeing a psychiatrist, and seemingly doing well. But it won’t last that way for long…

Anyway, it’s a bad movie. The makeup effects are the only thing it has going for it. A better film would tie this demonic curse passed from generation to generation to familial mental illness, but Mausoleum only makes motions at that. It’s not the worst possession film ever made–looking at you, The Devil Inside–but there’s nothing here.
